Rodney is the managing director of Scrub Consultants Ltd and co-director of Scrub Growers Ltd. Rodney is well-known for his restoration and ecology-based consultancy work in the greater Auckland region, after establishing the consultancy in 2003. With a rural background and technical and practical knowledge in all aspects of terrestrial (land-based) restoration ecology, Rodney brings a unique blend of skills to any project he is involved in.
Rodney is responsible for managing all aspects of consultancy projects, project management of all the companies implementation projects, staff/ HR and Health & Safety management.
Rodney is a member of the Auckland Botanical Society, NZ Ecological Society and Puhoi Landcare Group Committee and holds certifications in herbicide/ agrichemical use and handling, chainsaw safety, UTV/ATV use, first aid, toxin handling (CSL for cyanide use).
With a Bachelor of Resource Studies (majoring in Forest Ecology) from Lincoln University, Rodney has been working in private practice in the conservation industry in Auckland for 10+ years. Prior to focusing full time on the consultancy Rodney worked for conservation contracting company Te Ngahere Ltd (www.te-ngahere.co.nz), and then as a contract bush/ wetland assessor with the late Arthur Dunn (Dunn & Associates), and as the North Auckland Regional Representative for the QEII National Trust (www.openspace.org.nz).
Jane is the managing director of Scrub Growers Ltd.
Jane is responsible for managing all aspects of the native plant nursery operation, including: company policy and procedure development, nursery production/ propagation management and planning, customer relations, propagation of native species from seed and plant health.
Jane is also closely involved with the strategic direction of Scrub Growers operations department.
Jane is a member of the International Plant Propagators Society (IPPS), the NZ Garden Industry Association (NGIA) and holds certifications in herbicide/ agrichemical use and handling, chainsaw safety, UTV/ATV use, first aid, along with an advanced Level 4 qualification via the Horticultural Industry Training Organization (HITO).
Jane is currently studying for a Bachelor in Plant Science and Ecology from Massey University, to add to her Bachelor of Architecture (Honours).
Jane formerly worked as a an architect/ project manager, but has now turned her hand to running a native plant nursery, where she has overseen intensive development of a highly specialized nursery operation.
Paula is responsible for all plant production in the nursery. This includes management of plant production staff, production quality control, plant pests and diseases, irrigation, fertilizer and dispatch. Paula works closely with Jane on all aspects of nursery planning.
Paula joined Scrub Growers in 2010 and has achieved an advanced Level 4 qualification via the Horticultural Industry Training Organization (HITO) during this time. Paula also holds certifications in herbicide/ agrichemical use and handling, chainsaw safety, UTV/ATV use and first aid.
Coupled with her nursery expertise Paula has an in depth knowledge of our native revegetation and ecological restoration work through working on the planting crew and weed control team.
Paul manages our site operations team, with planting work in winter and weed control/ maintenance in summer, along with year around wetland restoration and seasonal animal pest control work.
Paul joined us in 2014 and has considerable experience in the field of horticulture, landscaping and natural area management and restoration.
Having a background that included time at City Parks Services and running his own contracting company, Paul is an experienced team leader with a wide range of skills in native revegetation and ecological restoration.
Paul has certifications in herbicide/ agrichemical use and handling, chainsaw safety, UTV/ATV use, 4wd use, tractor use and first aid (not to mention an HT and Site Safe & traffic control certifications).
