The Scrub Story
Founded in 2004 by ecologists Rodney and Jane Straka, Scrub was initially established as an environmental consultancy providing advice on rural subdivisions in the former Rodney District, with a small eco-sourced native plant nursey.
Located in Wainui, north of Auckland, the company has grown over the past 15 years, and now employs a team of 20 staff, offering clients a full range of ecology-based services to support farmers, developers, local authorities, and community environmental groups.
"We are both innovative and practical in our approach to every project. We support our clients to achieve their commercial, environment and community goals in a way that makes a meaningful difference to the land being restored, leaving behind an ecologically sustainable footprint for future generations."

Our Commitment to the Community
At Scrub we are passionate about sustainability and are committed to reducing our environmental impact, which is why we sterilise and reuse all our plastic pots and trays, invest in technologies to help minimise water use, implement pest management strategies that prevent the spread of disease while also minimising our reliance on chemical treatments.
We are also committed to helping our community connect with and enhance their environment. We have sponsored programmes such as the Million Metres Streams Project which is dedicated to restoring at least one million metres of waterways throughout New Zealand and we regularly donate plants, pots and potting mix to our local schools.
